Cancer Screening

Every patient has the skin of their mouth checked for anything suspicious during their routine dental visits. Cancer of the mouth is increasingly common and early detection will lead to a greater likelihood of a cure.

Other cancers are often picked up first by the dentist because, commonly, they are the only healthcare workers that are visited regularly by patients. Skin cancers in the head and neck region, Salivary Gland tumours and Cancers involving the Lymph Glands may be detected. Sometimes the first sign of a cancer problem may show up on an X Ray or via some other signs that the patient may develop.

Any suspicious areas of lumps and bumps should be checked out early.

If you are worried then get it checked - it will probably turn out to be something else.

We can biopsy any suspicious lesion for you. Specialist investigations can be arranged at the local hospital.
