Toothwear is normal but can become excessive and problematical in some circumstances
Some patients grind their teeth, sometimes during the day, sometimes at night and sometimes both. There may sometimes be an element of stress involved.
Some people are just bite harder than others.
This is usually high fibre or coarse foods but may also be objects such as tobacco pipes or seamstress needles.
If the teeth are soft then they will wear away more quickly. If some teeth have been lost then the others have to do more work.
This depends on how quickly the teeth are wearing away. Treatment is difficult but may not be necessary. Have a look at what can be done by checking out the treated cases from the left of the page.
The use of a daily FLUORIDE MOUTHWASH would help strengthen the teeth and slow down any wear.
